Joyce Mugabushaka

For the past five years, Joyce has been a dedicated volunteer with St John Ambulance SA, serving as an Event Medic and skills coordinator. Being of a non-English speaking background, Joyce is particularly passionate about finding ways to overcome language and access barriers to teach CPR and other life-saving first aid to community members.

Outside of her volunteering, Joyce is a PhD candidate at SAHMRI, where she conducts research focused on the gut bacteria and cancer therapy and long-term health outcomes of leukaemia survivors. Whether in the lab or on the field, Joyce is driven by a commitment to health and community impact.
